In Anne Arundel County

Shipley’s Choice is located in Millersville, MD, near
Severna Park, at the corner of Benfield Boulevard and Veterans Highway
with easy access to Interstate 97, which connects Annapolis with
Baltimore. Thurgood Marshall/BWI Airport is only 20 minutes north and
Route 50 is about 15 minutes south of the neighborhood.
According
to the Maryland Historical Society, Adam Shipley came to Anne Arundel
County in1686. On March 30, 1681, 200 acres were surveyed and patented
in his name. This track was the earliest in the Shipley name.
The first homes in Shipley’s Choice were built in
1978 by a Talles Homes with a sprinkling of other builders: Dias,
Chateau, Costain, Pilli, Gray, etc. But the majority of the homes were
built by Winchester Homes and Talles Homes. Now, there are 1147 single
family homes.
There
are two community associations, Shipley’s Choice community Association,
Inc. and the Shipley’s Choice Homeowners Association. The monthly
community newsletter, “Shipley’s Voice” gives the neighbors area news.
Shipley’s Choice is also a part of the Greater Severna Park Council and
they play a very active role in the Community. Shipley’s is in the
Severna Park School feeder system and the children go to Severna Park
Middle and High Schools.
Shipley’s
Choice Elementary School was built in 1989 as part of the developer’s
agreement to support the community needs for education. The facility is
one of the most up-to-date in the area with an excellent media center
and computer lab. When the PTA called upon several businesses in the
area to help build the new school playground, Joan stepped up and
contributed $5,000 as a Cornerstone Donation for the new playground
which was dedicated on April 8, 1998. I am pleased to say that my
grandchildren are happily using the playground.

The Community also has a Swim and Tennis club and a clubhouse
which is managed by elected volunteer officers. To join, each family
must purchase a bond to be eligible for membership.
Joan
has been selling homes in Shipley’s Choice since 1984 when she moved
there from Southern Maryland. She has sold a significant share of homes
in the neighborhood with more than 200 homes sold with over $60 million
in transactions. As a resident of Shipley’s Choice since 1996, Pam has
also been involved in a growing proportion of the transactions in the
neighborhood and their partnership offers a combination of two
knowledgeable experienced agents, ready to help both sellers and buyers
in Shipley’s Choice.
